Modern Fear • The Fear of Missing Out

The most consistent challenge from God to humanity as recorded in both the OT and the NT is: Do not be Afraid! Humanity has a FEAR PROBLEM! We are masterful at finding things to fear. Pastor Darren begins a short series of 3 messages on Modern Fears. He identifies FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) as Modern Fear # 1. Social Media has done a great job of bringing this fear to critical level. “My mundane normal life is simply no comparison to all the amazing things that my friends are regularly involved in”. The conclusion is that I AM MISSING OUT! From this realization it becomes a natural step to ignore my ‘present’ (where God has put me) and to begin the unhealthy, joy-robbing, empty pursuit of trying to be somebody else, somewhere else. And God responds by saying again to humanity, ‘Do Not Be Afraid … of Missing Out’.
